Easter Message from the CEO
01 April 2021
At iSimangaliso Wetland Park, the Easter weekend is traditionally always buzzing with visitors coming from all corners of the world to experience this natural jewel, which was inscribed by UNESCO as the first world heritage site in South Africa. The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has however ushered in a “new normal” and has changed the way we currently live. This coming Easter weekend will be the second year in succession that we celebrate under the cloud of this deadly pandemic.
We understand that at this time of the year visitors come to the Park to enjoy the various activities on offer, and use this time to relax and replenish so that they may rise again to achieve even greater things. We all can learn from the symbolism of the Easter weekend… although filled with suffering and despair, it ends on a positive note, with hope and triumph against the odds.
In our country, the Easter weekend is unfortunately characterised by road carnage, as the result of road accidents. We call upon all drivers to exercise caution on the road as they travel to different corners of the country. It is in our hands to avoid further loss of lives. It is in this spirit that iSimangaliso will also be ensuring adherence to health protocols – as directed by Government, compliance by all visitors to the Park during the Easter weekend will be paramount.
I wish to take this opportunity to wish our employees, stakeholders, concessionaires, park visitors, board and partners a wonderful and cheerful Easter, surrounded by those you love and care for.
May all the blessings, love, and happiness shine down on you and your loved ones.
Happy Easter!
Mr SE Bukhosini Chief Executive Officer iSimangaliso Wetland Park
